Just wondering if anyone has come across this before. I've had my mare since she was 2 1/2 so I'm hoping she has never had a foal although her history is somewhat sketchy. For the last 5 years she has produced milk every summer, at first the vets thought it was mastitis but she didn't have a temperature and after 2 courses of anti biotics there was still no change so the vet squeezed a bit out and (cringe) licked it and said it was milk and not to worry but wasn't sure why this was happening. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea's. It's not bothering her, I'm just curious.

How odd. Could you bottle it and pass it to a foal bank?

I've no idea, she's very friendly and once looked after a foal that had been recently weaned after it had a major accident, she was the only one people trusted to be with him. Would be interesting to see if she would take to a foal? Or like you say, if her milk would be helpful at all
