Main reasons people don't have dogs

Is your horse sometimes/often stiff in his back?

I am currently thinking of getting a dog and lots of people have warned against it.

Please could you tell me why you think most people dont have a dog?

I would love to have one but maybe its best if i dont?

As pointed out in the other area this isnt a very good poll - I guess it should say what would stop you from getting one - if you dont already have one?

The only reason I could think of, would be if I felt I wouldn't have the money to pay for proper veterinarycare if they got ill.

But what reason did these people give you, for giving you that advice? Are you very busy? Pedantic?

If you're out of the house all day - don't get one. It's simply not fair on the dog.

I know that others disagree, but it's the reason why I don't currently have one.

I agree if people aren't prepared to pay a dog walker to take the dog out for 2 hours during the day.

If a dog has a good run morning evening and two hour during the day I don't see the problem!

Everyones entitled to their own opinion though....

Yes, PR I think that this can work very well, but I wonder how many people do it?

I think it must be a very lonely existence to be on your own all day.........

I totally agree and I wouldn't condone any dog being left alone for more than 3/4 hours at a time....but that's just my opinion I guess

I'd love a dog but we work full-time so too difficult - some dogs are fine with this but there's no way to tell until you try, and by then it's a bit late to change your mind.

I had a JR as a teenager and then when I grew up she used to be left at home while we were all at work. I'm 100% sure she spent all day snoozing on the sofa and never seem bothered at all. I woudn't take the risk on being so lucky again.

I have considered using an outdoor kennel during work hours but our garden is not 100% fenced so we'd need a chain, and I'm scared people would report us to the RSPCA, even though it would be better than being shut indoors really...or not? What do you think? I'm used to seeing working dogs kept like this (in fact out all the time) but it people seem to automatically assume it's cruel if they aren't used to it.
