Well yesterday me and Major had our first lesson in a very long time, Charlotte Agnew (an event rider) rents the other half of the yard that my boss owns so i asked her for some lessons.

It was really good and i learnt a hell of a lot, my tendancy as he's so lazy is to keep at him with my leg but actually she got me to take my leg off completely and as soon as he dropped off to give one short sharp kick and by the end of my lesson he was much more off my leg and actually my leg meant more as i wasn't at him so much. Major has jumped twice since he came back off his hols, it was all very exciting and he'd taken to broncing after every fence (although he has stopped this again now thankfully!) and on Thursday i managed to hit the deck (again!). He stopped at some planks, which was fine then span round and round on the spot until i came off, the girl i was with said he went round 4 times then stopped as soon as i came off. SO he is well and truely in the nauighty ginger horse books!

But today was really good, because i wasn't constantly at him with my legs they meant more so if he backed off mhy legs actually made a difference. Not only that but we worked on getting the canter slower which meant i could soften my hands and wow what a difference. I'm so used to hanging on to him into a fence that actually if he has a doubt then i'm just encouraging a stop.

We did however have one problem, i let the canter get too long and let him drop behind my leg which meant we had no stride he dropped to a trot completely demolished the fence then ever so nearly went down. Un-fortunately photographer went after that so we didn't get the jumps after that as he realised that he ought to make an effort and boy did he jump. He's so lazy normally and makes minimal effort and although he can be careful if he's lazy will just knock everything down. Hopefully he'll pick his toes up in future!

Anyway here are the photos, video is just uploading.

Photo_Jo, how do you know so much about him?!

I like my racing!

i remember you originally posting a pic of him with Sue Magnier's colours in him anyway but I looked him up on Racing Post and I know his dam Reneshaan is the dam of Alexander Goldrun who was a superstar. Also the dam of Medicis who certainly did stand at the Irish National Stud and was shuttling to Australia. Your boy's dam was sold in 2004 for 640,000 guineas. pic of her below.

Well sat, don't worry that's happened to me once or twice when my horse has forgotten to take off! They don't make the same mistake twice! :).
