get some leather oil, and oil the underside about 3 or 4 times, over a period of 2-3 days, letting the oil soak in.
thats what i always do, then clean with glycerine soap, and tack seems to appreciate it. you may then need to oil it every few weeks to start with, and then just saddle soap would keep it supple.

I like the jefferies one too got some in a job lot of leather cleaner from ebay this year and it's wonderful stuff.
It makes your hands smelly lovely afterwards and leaves them and the leather soft too plus it smells like honey too, yum.
I have some stubben leather care too but although it is good it stinks

Gold label I find good as well. It is in the budget range for leather care but I used it a lot until I got the jefferies one.
The gold label is called leather rejuvenator and it too leaves your hands soft. I don't know if anyone else is familiar with this stuff? But when I first had some from a friend it was like hair gel consistency and great to use and then I bought some from a tack shop and it went very runny in a few days? Is that normal?
