We went to Chatelherault Country Park today for a wander. He stomped around the whole 12kms of both trails and a paddle in the Avon River :)

I had the best time just him and me.

He is a barefoot Welsh D x Appaloosa, 26yrs old with Cushings and still loving life :) :D I boxed him over myself, we had a wonderful hack then I washed him off and we boxed home. It's been the best day since my car accident at work and the resultant PTSD I've been left with.

My Favoutiee from the day

The head shot I'm going to have blown up for a nice frame in my house :)

Hi is very cute and looking fabulous for his age. The hacking looks fantastic, very envious. Is that a new country park?
I have never heard of it and lived in the west of Scotland for many, many years.

OP I'm not sure if you're still of work following your accident but if so you might want to be careful abt posting on public social media about hacking on what would otherwise be a work day (Friday).

Just been reading abt the policeman who lost his job calling in sick and then going to the races. Not at all suggesting that this is what you are doing, just that if you're off sick it might look that way.

If you have been signed off sick there is no reason you cant ride unless you doctor has said not to. Same for going out places.

Fixed you 2 favourite pics OP. Looks like you had a lovely time!

Ah, wonderful photographs. Unfortunately, I am now feeling very homesick ... (these were all taken so close to "home" and where we walked many times as a family).

I am signed off sick. I haven't called in sick. I am unfit for work due to the nature of my work. I won't go into details on here but I suffer from PTSD and I have very few good days so please do not add to my anxiety by making me feel more trapped in my own house than I already am. I had to box here because it is off road and I cannot stand traffic right now and I am unable to enjoy my boy as much as I should x

I just want to wish you well for your recovery. You have a beautiful horse and that looks like a fabulous ride. You don't need to explain yourself. Those of us who have been signed off for longer periods and the people who care about and for us know that activity and doing as many of the things of our usual life as possible are the way to recovery (and being as well as possible in the meantime).

Thank you both of you. My accident happened at the very beginning of March and this is me just starting to try returning to normal function. It's very hard, hiking with the therapy and help I will be fine eventually. My accident happened at work so they are very aware of why I am absent.

The good days are good and the hard days hopeless so days like I had on Friday help on the bad days.

I know how you feel. My horse is sometimes the only thing that gets me out of bed on a bad day, I hope your recovery continues and you have many more days like this xx

I know it's a totally inadequate thing to say but I hope your recovery is as quick and simple as recovering from a mental health issue is ever going to be.

It looks like you and your boy had a fab time, I am so jealous! This has to be my favourite photo: gorgeous horse in a gorgeous setting.

Thank you :)

I appreciate any well wishes as honestly I wouldn't wish this constant fear and anxiety on anyone. I am hoping to return to some form of work soon and try to take my life back :)

Riding is an amazing therapy.

What a georgous boy (I think I have made my love of him known before :D ) and such lovely scenery - I bet it is just what you needed :)

What a lovely post. You're very lucky to have such a beautiful setting within a reasonable distance. I hope it provided some decent therapy. Come back and read it again on a bad day to remind you of the good days. Hope the good days start to outweigh the bad and your progress continues.
