My gelding in now stabled over night and turned out during the day, he gets turned out about 7.30am and brought in between 3.30pm-4.30pm .

If you have read my recent posts he has to be kept in a paddock by himself (and i cannot change this) there is horses in eyesight behind the paddock and to the side of the paddock who are out all day.

Recently he hasn't been happy in the field.
He is very reluctant to go out to the field and when there he stands at the gate and when i leave he paces up and down ( other people are around the yard all day and have all said he keeps doing this)

He is a greedy thing so have tried putting hay out but he won't touch it and keep standing at the gate or pacing.

any ideas to keep him happier? I don't want to keep him in all day and night.

Have put hay in and put his treat ball in field instead of stable.

I have the opposite problem. My mare is the same but in her stable despite having her mate next door. ( she doesn't pace but just wont eat) I don't think I have read your previous posts but why can't your horse have a companion? Unfortunately, I think you have done all you can and all I can say is if this is a new routine, give him time.

Don't waste your money on calmimg herbs or anything like that as it seems, from what you say, that it is being on his own that stresses him. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

He has been on his own all summer and been pretty happy, it's just since the colder weather as well.
he can't be in with other as he is aggressive towards other horse owners when they catch their horses, the YO doesn't want him in with other liveries which i do understand.

Before i got him he was stabled a lot as well.
