OH and I are going to the Gower Peninsula in September, and the other day, he made the fateful mistake of saying, 'Ooh! We could go riding whilst we're there!'
Now my OH has not ridden for years - he did a bit of RDA stuff when he was under 10, but other than that, he's only ever sat on Ellie whilst I led her round a field (after having ridden the legs off her beforehand - here's not many people brave/stupid enough to get on my horsey!
)
He does, however, have aspirations of one day owning a 'Gyppo cob' - he loves coloureds and hairies, and has visions of himself in a little flat cap and tweed in the show ring (in hand, I hasten to add!)
Anyway, I have done a little bit of research and have found this:
Copley Stables website
It says they cater for all abilities, and that they offer a 'private hack' - presumably for just the two of us, which would be ideal. What does everyone think? Is it too much to ask of a first timer, to just plonk him on a riding school horse and get on with it? IMO it's the best way, but I dont want to overface him
Must add I have just texted him, and he seems up for it......
