Update from my previous thread ...

On Thursday (after racking my brains all night trying to think of new things to do) I settled for a session where I did something, then changed the rein, repeated that movement, then changed the rein, did a new movement, changed the rein repeated movement and so on. I started off walking, then trotting, adding in a circle, a figure 8, then did some canter, added a circle ... I did all the changes of rein in walk, and varied where I changed the rein, tried collected/extended walk across the diagonals.

and he went great! Didn't try to stop on the change of reins, paid attention to me, in between the odd head shake, jibbing at the bit - I ignored him and pushed him forward. I didn't aim for an outline, just kept a contact and kept him moving forward from my leg.

Yesterday I worked on transitions, halt to walk, walk to trot are all going well, trot to canter on the right rein is always a bit "iffy" but I persisted and after one no go, I got him to strike off first time of asking 3 times.

Feeling a lot better about things now!
