I have a rought coated Jack Russell terrier. Normally, she seems to loose a little hair all year round and then more for a few weeks a couple of times a year. However, recently (the last couple of months or so) she seems to have been loosing more than normal. He coat is as thick as ever and she seems healthy in every other way.

Do you think there could be anything wrong with her?

Also, does anyone have any ideas how to stop the hair - it seems to get everywhere!

My lab is the same and seems to lose hair steadily throughout the year yet every November, in the midst of the cold wet shooting season, she sheds everything so she's left with a pathetic excuse of a coat.

Have had her checked at vets and all is healthy and well, it's just one of those things! I wouldn't worry if she is his usual chirpy self, eating well etc but no harm in popping her along to the vets for peace of mind...

As for the hair .... hoover?!

The weather changes so much here we have a moult up to about four times a year :o
I wouldn't stress unless she is actually getting bald/thinning patches.
My female is tufty right now but her brother is fine.

Mine loose hair constantly all year and then have a huge moult (clumps of hair everywhere) twice a year, and now is currently one of those times.:( All I can really recommend is a good vaccuum cleaner.:p

dogs that live indoors tend to lose hair all year round. but things like turning on your heating ect do affect it.

the weather is messing with quite a few indoor dogs i know at the moment and my terrier is getting really scurfy, shes tight coated and never has a moult, just loses small amounts of hair. i think its probably because weve had cold snap-warm-cold-warm-freezing-ect ect and the central heating keeps getting turned on too.
