Malvern December Sport Horse Sale?

Does anyone know what the prices are like at this sale? Am I right in thinking they would be lower than at other times of the year? Does anyone have any experience of buying or selling there? Many thanks.

Seriously can't help although I suspect prices are bond to be slightly better as people tighten there belts around Xmas. Saying that though will people sent their better horses this time of year! So no help really.

A friend's horse fetched 5.5k there last year as a hunter. He was a proper irish MW sort though and they sell like hot cakes

Wondering whether it would be worth taking Betsy if she hasn't sold by then, but it's quite a long way, and close of entries is Wednesday.

You may as well enter her then take a look at the catclogue and if there are other similar looking types it might be worth taking her.

Cheap as chips! A few go for good prices. LS always goes, she often buys from there. Usually a few nice Kings Composers/event bred horses.

Was hoping you'd come and tell me what it's like - was sure you knew! Not liking the cheap as chips bit though - I can't take much less than £5k, which is what I'm asking for her anyway. And I'd be bound to come back with something wouldn't I?! Mind you, terms say you don't get paid for 21 days, so I wouldn't have any money to buy even if she did sell....

Don't know what you paid for her but they don't usually make much money, the ones with good showing records go for 4-8k but everything else seems to not fetch much. You can always stick a reserve on but remember they deduct!

Given SM's evaluation and how far it is and fees involved, thnk I'll give Malvern a miss...

Hmm, in that case are you not more likely to sell her within 21 days privately or have you had zero interest? Be a timewasting and expensive exercise if she didn't make the reserve. I've threatened Rhi with that sale several times

Why don't you send her there then with a reasonable reserve? Can't be too far can it? And she's done well when you've shown her.

Have had quite a few ring up, but have been honest about her being a fidget, as anyone will see it the moment she's out the stable, and then the bloody horse lost a shoe on Friday and won't have it back on till Weds

. Got someone coming on Thurs hopefully. I think I must have had about 10 calls, 9 of which have been from the Pony Club website. I don't think any of my horses want to be sold...

If you look on the Brightwells website it gives you the prices that things sold for from previous sales.
