I'm going to Malvern sales tomorrow to see if there's anything I'd like to buy.

Could anyone explain the format of the day please as I've not been before?

I know it starts at 11.30 and you can get there from 8.30 to try out the horses but that's as much as I know at the moment. I don't really know what to expect!

The horses are available to view in their stables or the owner can ride them in the large grass arena with a few jumps in it. Some can be ridden by yourself if the owner allows. Sale starts at 1130 and they come in in order. If you buy one you can have a full vetting and take it home.

I am going too, will be interested to see what happens if the arena is frozen solid as its flipping freezing here.

Yep, I did wonder about how the weather would affect it all.

Do you always have to take them away on the same day? Is everything paid for in cash? Do they tend to be fairly nice horses and what sort of money do they go for?

(I'm looking for a 16hh-16.3hh, 4-10 yr old to do a bit of everything with and have a budget of £2k)

Usually lots of nice horses there, catalogue looks quite good for tomorrow, depending on what you are looking for. It isn't cash only, you can pay by debit card or credit (with a premium).
You do need to take them home on the day, unless arranged with the auctioneers I think.
2k will probably be ok, I don't expect prices to be high tomorrow, probably lots of 'not solds'.
Not looking forward to the weather bit, although the sale is indoors with heaters.

No, they are crafty and you have to pay for a catalogue. It will be published after the sale along with the results.
