I have an Iveco which has a limiter on it and if I reach 50mph the light on right hand side of the speedometer comes on until I drop below 50mph maybe it's that on yours? The light on the left also a red one is the tachometer light I think?.

The light on the left indicates that the vehicle is moving without a chart in the driver position or that the Tacho head has not been properly closed. It's not a terribly good idea to put a 'paper' chart into a Tacho for a prolonged period as it can damage the styli. If you look for a Tachograph Centre in your area they sell 'blind charts' which are a plastic material and can be left in the Tacho head for ages. Simply put the chart over the pear shaped cam (usually white) that you will see when you open the Tacho head. Shut the head and lock using the key. You don't have to leave the key in the lock but store it somewhere safe and memorable in the vehicle.

The light on the right is a 'speed warning' light. Dependent upon the exact model of Tacho fitted to your vehicle there will be either a little screw or a couple of buttons in the Tacho head that allow you to set the speed at which the light comes on. If you set it at 80km/h or 50 mph that will warn you about the speed on a single carriageway road where the 'national speed limit' applies. Most HGV drivers will set the light to come on at 40 mph or 60km/h, their limit for the same type of road. Many then seem to ignore the light, which makes you question why they bothered to set it in the first place!!
