At our old yard in Warninglid last week, a man was seen taking photos of the horses in a field. He was approached and just said he liked taking photos of horses, but spoke with a foreign accent. They called the police but he disappeared. Today, returning from a show, we saw a man in Ansty photographing horses in a field, we turned round a got the number plate of his scooter, and he was still photographing them. His description was exactly the same as the man in Warninglid, black rimmed glasses, grey slicked back hair, prob about 50. Rang the police who have linked the two incidents but nothing more really can be done, but checked the number plate and said he was local. Very strange!

Tinkerbee - what does your response mean? Sorry, don't understand it! Think that Mollie did the right thing, even if it amounts to nothing - can't go around taking photos of other people's property and not think there is something slightly weird about it.

Thanks for the heads up Mollie!

LOTS of people take photos of horses, it's not such a weird thing. And another thing - we have such an array of handsome 'British' horses in this country that you don't see anywhere else. When I go to Europe I like to take photos of horses that you don't see in the UK very often(Haflingers, Lippizaners etc), nobody thinks that is weird!!

It's strange because he was trespassing and why would someone go into other people's field and photograph their horses on at least two different occasions.

Because people do that, especially foreigners on holiday here in the UK. You were right to note this and lets hope he really is innocent.

I take pics of horses I see out and about
People take pics of ours all the time.

In fact if you do a google/photobucket search of our area you can find pics taking by others, of our horses.

I wouldnt be so arsey if this was a one off, but everyone is running around like headless chickens over these *imaginary* foreign men who are taking 50 coloured cobs away in a ka or whatever tripe people are spewing.

I think it was the fact that they were trespassing - as the person (and car) is apparently local then they aren't a foreigner, and I expect were just harmlessly snapping...but really....what is the deal with the right to ramble in this country?! In the States, you legally defend your private property - that includes shooting people!

I understand that there is a big 'thing' going on at the moment, but this was a different circumstance, and a different vehicle, and therefore the OP was just trying to make people in her area aware. My ponio lives on a bridlepath and I often get randomers stopping to say hi (or feed her jellybabies....perfect) and that is fine. But I wouldn't want them climbing into her field which is private.

This clearly what she is talking about..

"just said he liked taking photos of horses, but spoke with a foreign accent"

I like taking pics of horses, and have a foreign accent. That probably makes me a potential horse thief in the current climate.

" black rimmed glasses, grey slicked back hair, prob about 50. "

I think its the description that throws me off, sounds like your typical "suspicious" man

"Very strange"

Not in my view, not really.

And she didnt mention a problem with trespassing...

Not going to flog it, I think she was just being vigilant, and can't jump on her for saying nothing. If god forbid something had happened, would feel very bad, and with current situations (even if a hoax) was just trying to relay information to people in the area.

I know those Ansty and Cuckfield lot - they all look suspicious!

Tinkerbee - just a heads up - I used to be on the same yard as Mollie so know it was off the beaten track, not sure about the Ansty one ...(just so it didn't seem like I was trying to be argumentative!) Now have moved the pony to South East London....may be worth getting her freezemarked!!!

Find any weird Ansiians or Cuckfieldians on Google!?! Sure that most of their eyes are too close togehter!

Kitz - what area of HH?
