man v horse race

Did the man win this year then? I thought that a man had only ever won it once before when the ground was really wet?
 
just checked with my friend, and 3 men won it this year! apparently the terrain is so rough in parts that the horses have to slow to a walk to pick their way over it, whereas the runners can fly over it, and some of the downward hills are really steep and slippy which the runners can travel down faster than the horses, although the nicer tracks the horses can go flat out, also the runners get 20 min start, and the horses have to be checked after for heart rate and are D'qd if not low enough.
 
There was a segment on Brainiac this week, pitting a man against a horse over a course of jumps. I thought the horse would easily beat the man, espeically given the need to get over the jumps, but in fact, the man was several seconds faster. Although the horse covered the ground faster, and jumped faster than the man, it had much bigger turning circles, and becasue of its big jump, was in the air for longer, unlike the man, who was very agile and moving forward all the time. It was very interesting, actually!
