Hi all , looking for some advice... My made had a bout of lymphangitis last year and unfortunatly it reared its ugly head again yesterday will the bulk of the swelling very high up in hind leg... Had vet out and tbh he will be called in morning as that swelling hasn't reduced after meds yesterday. .
Now that she has had two bouts of lymphangitis I want to make sure moving forward i do whatever i can to help prevent reoccurance. So all advice re diet, supplements and management very much appreciated.

I am pleased she is a little better today, I had one mare that suffered from it following getting a tiny amount of mud fever, the main thing was plenty of turnout with room to move around, she tended to stand about eating hay in the winter rather than keeping moving looking for grass, in summer out 24/7 and had no problems. A low protein, high fibre diet and I found the supplement, linked below, really helped and I have used it on others that tend to get filled legs as it seems to help the circulation, any minor scrapes need extra attention than in a horse that does not suffer for it.

Google CLIVERS FOR HORSES the hedgerows are full of them at this time of year, feed a few handfuls a day ,it will get rid of the fluid in legs as it is a lymphatic system cleanser.
I feed it to our horses ,they love it .and it is free.

As much movement as possible, so 24/7 turnout if you can. I put my three onto Forage Plus winter hoof health balancer and my lymphangitis horse had no filling in his legs at all last winter. Normally he wears stable bandages overnight when he's in and any time spent standing in longer than overnight is asking for trouble, but no filling even after two days in, with only a half hour mooch around the yard. Can't say 100% it's the balancer, but that is all that has changed and I'm sticking to it!
