Hi all I was just wondering how you all manage your small acres, I have 3.5 acres. Two horse turned out 24/7. But I need advise on how to manage as I used to have lots more acres to play with.
Thank you.

It depends - on the soil type, topography, horses size and requirements etc etc. I would be setting up a track around the outside for summer and strip grazing into foggage for winter, so at least the middle gets rested. And poo pick in summer, less so in winter to fertilise next years foggage

I will watch this thread with interest as i have similar acreage. My two have been on my 2.5 acres all winter and its pretty much trashed now. I will be quartering it in the spring/summer (if the grass ever grows back :(()

I have learnt through this horrible muddy winter that I have to preserve my fields better ready for next winter. IT takes a lot of thinking and forward planning, more complicated than i ever thought it would be !
