Mane being rubbed

Hi...
Abit previous as we are only just getting proper summer weather but im wanting to rug my filly through the winter just in a single lightweight to mainly keep her dry. Shes not going to be clipped and is a cob. My biggest worry is her mane being rubbed out, any suggestions on how to prevent it happening?

Conditioner/coat shine on the mane helps with friction

Keeping the rug (and if possible the mane) clean helps keep grease to a minimum

Leaving the neck off where possible helps air get to the mane (if combo tuck the neck inside the rug)

There are several schools of thought as to what causes mane loss so a multi pronged method is a good idea

My pony was rugged up to his eyeballs last winter and didn't lose any mane
