Mane dilemma (To pull or not to pull)

I don't know what to do about my mares mane it is very long and straggly and flips on both sides, she is a cob and still fluffy and babyish. A lady at the yard has offered to pull it for me not too short, but I'm not sure. Not a very good photo, but you may get the jest of it.

I would say pull it - but use a solo comb. Mine arrived yesterday and I went mane mad!! They're brilliant - same effect as pulling but no pain! My big chunky cob now has a lovely neat short mane and it took minutes.

I was looking at one of those the other day, are they easy to use?
 
Yes really easy. I had a look at the demo on their website

and it really was as simple as that.

I imagine it might be less stressful for a youngster to use a solocomb rather than conventional pulling? I like the fact that you can just use it whenever, rather than waiting for them to be warm after a ride/or for when you have the time to spare to do it.
