I am having problems with my mares mane and I'm after some of your wonderful help/advice..

Basically it always falls on the wrong side, I have tried your typical solution of plait and leave for awhile but no matter how long I leave loose/tight/running plait/bunches in within a day it's sticking back up and going back over to the wrong side (the ruddy dark side)

I try wetting and pulling it on the correct side and nope, I've tried the plait technique and nope...

What more can I try, please help

Adios

Keep at it. It has taken me 4 years but finally my miniature stallions mane is on one side. I kept his mane plaited all the time, replaiting every week. I washed his mane about once a month and applied exta strong hair gel - 44p from tesco's. The other secret is LOTS of hairspray. Even now I don't plait him any more but every day I wet his mane over and either gel it or hairspray it.

When I first got him

End result (his mane is pulled now)

I am a judge.

It depends on what class you were in as to whether you would get marked down or not and also what level you are competing at. It is unlikely but if there were two entries which the judge could not make their mind up about you might lose a placing.

The main thing is that you don't want to draw attention to yourself for the wrong reasons, only right ones! Good luck and have a go anyway. Its only one persons opinion at the end of the day and as long as you love her who cares!

Thank you, I think I'll give up and leave her mane be and see how we go from there..

We don't compete at a high level so fingers crossed we don't have a particular judge that like's correctly placed manes ;-)

At local level you could even get away with a running plait. Just make sure is is neat and clean whatever you decide to do.
