I had an RC email last night, 4 horses found with plaits in manes in Lympsham, and unconfirmed via facebook in Mark so suggest everyone just keeps an eye out.
I think I had the same email yesterday from Gloucestershire police warning everyone to be extra vigilant this week as Stow horse fair is coming up. The travellers go into the fields and plait horses manes with the intention of coming back later and stealing them to take to the fair and sell.
yes lc, what I was told was that 4 horses had a plait put in their manes in lympsham during saturday or sunday night and men were disturbed on sunday night with another 2 (they might be the mark ones, info is a bit patchy atm!)
Other 'tagged for theft' signs to watch out for,... carrier bags tied onto field gate or in the hedge, ash emptied in or near gateway, spray paint road markings by the field or yard when there are no obvious road works in the area.
There was another post about this last week, a horse in Warminster (Wiltshire) was found to have a plait in its mane. Looks like they are round this area (Somerset/Wiltshire).
