Im sure someone on here has mentioned something to put on the mane prior to pulling it. Something that has a numbing effect?

I pulled Addie's mane last night and she was soooo good considering but I still felt a little bad.

Sorry to jump in on this one but I have real problems pulling my boys mane and I'm interested in this. How do you use the cloves oil? Do you just drizzle it on the mane? Also where can I get some from? Pulling my horses mane is a nightmare so I'm willing to give anything a try.

I've tried mane rakes and solo combs but they just make his mane stand up on end so he now looks like a mohican!

Yes it is clove oil. I asked about this not so long ago. You should wear gloves when you apply it so your fingers don't go numb and only to the roots of the mane.

Clove oil has a pain numbing property. It is also marketted under the name of Tooth Tincture at chemists as it is used to put on tooth ache to ease the pain. You rub it into the base of the mane. Additionally ensure you pull after exercise when the horse is warm as the hair comes aout a little easier.

It was me!!!!!

Mix equal quantities of Clove Oil, Rubbing Alcohol and water together store with an airtight lid. Shake well before use.

Wear rubber gloves when rubbing into the roots of the mane - otherwise your fingers go numb.
