Mane pulling

[Chestnut mare]

When I try to pull my Arab x welsh mares mane she ends up with it sticking up like a punk! I've tried traditional pulling with a comb and also with a solo comb! She has a very thick mane and is difficult to plait! Any tips as everyone elses manes seem to look lovely when pulled!

Maybe try a rake to thin it?

thinning knife hingy works whith my conemarra bt you have to pull it as well
