Anyone got any tips, have never used one before. What size would I need for a mane suitable for plaiting and which make?

Thanks.

I don't get on well with them!

I can't often get the right angle to get it to cut the strands. I would begrudgingly offer the solocomb as the only alternative I know of, but so many horses I've seen have such a false look after being solocombed.

Have you not got enough mane to pull?

No idea on size, I borrow my friends! I think it's a medium.....

I just comb the mane over onto the wrong side and pull the rake through....

Always worked ok for me!

Loads unfortunately - it takes ages to pull and is really thick. It is also a battle of wills - horse hates it even though I do it when he's warm so was looking for an easy option

I have one which I used on my NF. TBH I did not have great results with it and I have just gone back to pulling.

I found it thinned the mane nicely but you still have to shorten it.

Anyway I gave up on it and my solocomb lol. Nothing beats pulling!

I'm pretty sure it was an Oster coarse one, but I've brought it down here to ebay and put it in a special place lol!

No doubt it will resurface one day!

so easy to use!!! then 2 months later you will regret it as the stubble makes the whole lot stick up!!! try and pull properly but will still get regrowth spike. if it really is the mane from hell and horse has a nice shaped neck and natural carriage consider hogging! many types suit this and maintenance is easy if good with clipprs!
