I know it's a a common topic around this time of year but, hey ho..

What do people use to help promote main growth back after your lovely winter rug eats it away! Worked so hard on my boys mane over summer now his thinning patch 1/4 of the way up is threatening to be bald!

Just about to get the cornucrescine out to slather on, but it is messy, especially on a grey mane on a pony that goes hunting every week! Any good tips out there that people are willing to share? Before I bite the bullet.. :(

Take the full neck rug off and voila your mane is saved! If your not willing to do that maybe some megatek

Ditto and don't be such a softy :p lol my mare is fully clipped, face and all and never wears a neck due to the fact they seem to rub. Never known her to come in cold. Just make sure he's got plenty to eat.

And def check out tailgator amazing products :D

I too have full clipped horses but never use anything other than a standard neck on my rugs as their manes need to be long and full for showing.

Even recently when they had to live out 24 x 7 due to Farra taking out the stable wall, they were happy and warm with just a 250 rug on but they had ad lib hay at all times to eat.

I as part of my routine mix megatek with water - 50 - 50 and rub into the roots three/four times a week. You can use it neat daily but I prefer to water it down so it is not so sticky and I just leave it in.

I used it myself after chemo and my hair came back very very fast and very thick, and it also gave old Cairo a mane after many years of just a few wisps following his chemo. Also great on rubs and wounds to help hair grown back.

ditto the others, just take it off. never ever again will i use a snuggyhood turnout and as last winter my horse went bald, all her mane fell out!! Its grown in nicely now but has taken a whole year to get long enough to lie flat!! I used megatek and it made no difference. She is fully clipped with a 1/2 face and out with no neck 90% of the time - unless we get hideous weather and i pop the neck on. Doing it this way means its never on for more than a day and so far , so good.

It's a only a 100g turn out rug with a built in neck. By the sounds of it, I'll just have to man-up and take it off and put his regular no-hooded back on. He's never come in cold to date, never too hot either, generally runs on hot so I can get away with nothing more than a 250g.

Ahh! I never thought I'd be one for being over-sensitive!
Slap with wet fish needed.. Ta guys!
