Well i recently got a new horse and her mane was pretty long which i hated because she just isnt the type for it so i pulled it.

I pulled it quite short so it was plaitable but now it is growing upwards! The whole lot sticks in the air! It looks silly. Looks a bit like a foals mane (shes 4 btw)

is it because i pulled it wrong or will it go back down after time. Its growing like it would if it had been hogged!!!

Any thoughts on how/why this has happend and any preventatives/cures?

oh good idea< bit warm at the mo for that though. Guess ill just keep trying to plait it down.

Just weird how after pulling it it suddenly wants to grow up like a zebra

we pulled galaxys mane the other day...and ooh heck, he looks a fool now, vertical

one of our ponies mane grows upwards towads her ears. Have tried letting it grow but its so thick can't do anything with it. Have tried having it short and it stands vertical! She only looks tidy when plaited so most of the time......!

My friends mare has exactly the same issue with her mane. Hers is also plaited, but it doesn't seem to do any good. It wants to grow up and over the other side, lol
If ever she finds a cure i will be sure to let you know, lol

Been calling my boy 'Spike' for a while now! His mane is really lightweight and some of it got rubbed off during the winter while in rugs with necks on - it is finally getting longer but still growing straight upwards! Lol ! Have given up worrying about it now as nothing seems to work!!

Mine too - thorough shampoo plus Avon Skin so Soft plus fly rug neck cover does the trick when I can't face it any longer!
She looks like a punk most the time, doesn't really suit her personality which should be more blue rinse...

bryl cream,,,smother their mane with that and plait it down. leave it plaited for about a week(ish)..take it out and do it again. it will *eventually* lay down
