Mane Trouble! Hoods???

Before I got my boy he had never been stabled, due to circumstances he now has to be but he won't tolerate the stable door being shut so has a rubberised stable chain across instead which he's perfectly happy with! However he does like to explore the ground outside his door and puts his head under the chain, but only gets halfway down his neck before he gets to big and can't any further!
Now the chain is rubbing away his mane (well the bottem half anyway!) and there isn't really any other options in terms of the chain, so someone recomended a headless hood, to stop the chain rubbing any further and as we're coming into winter this will hopefully stop the rugs rubbing it as well!
Does anyone know where I can get a headless hood, or one that just goes over his ears, but not his face?
And anyone got any recomendations to help speed up mane regrowth :)

The Snuggy Hoods headless hoods are good, they make them in fleece or a turnout type fabric not sure if they do lycra ones. All have a shiny mane lining though and none of mine have rubbed. They cover the shoulders as well.

I also have a cheap lycra neck cover made by Roma or Shires or somesuch company and thats good but it doesnt cover the shoulders and doesnt sit as securely as the Snuggy Hood ones
 
Supreme Mane and Tail Rebuilder is good but smelly! To be honest i am convinced its the massaging in of products that works more than what you actually use though!
 
Get an elastic door guard or fix a section of rubber matting onto the chain so he can't get his head under it in the first place? I'd be worried about him getting stuck, panicking and injuring himself.
 
Thanks all!! :) Nikki, do you mean like one that attaches with 3 clips on each side? If so we've tried that and he reacts the same as the door being closed :( and he had a square of rubber matting attached like a cat flap but it didn't really make a difference, he was having that rest on his head and neck as puts his head under!
Goldenstar we tried that before we used the chain and only went to the chain because he pushing on it and it was rubbing his chest :(
The chain seems to work well, he's happy with it, and he's not at all bargey, and doesn't push on it, just has a nosey around the floor outside his stable :)
I do worry about him getting stuck but there is always someone on the yard during the day and hes out at night anyway, and I can't really see how he'd get himself trapped anyway, with what he's doing :) x
