Hi everybody

I am after some advice my 9 month old collie x Dalmatian has a patch of mange on his face and wondered how best to treat it?

Thanks in advanced

Go to the vet.get skin scrapes taken.different types of mange need different treatments.
Or try an advocate and then go to the vet if no improvement within a few days....but you could end up needing more treatments if its left to grow/damage the underlying skin.

I agree with aru...due to the fact there are three different types of mange you really should get the vet to do a simple skin scrape and then you know exactly what type of meds to give..all three require a different approach as this simple link covers..

In the meantime...if you have any thornit ear powder, this is said to cure the most common form of mange.

Are you sure its mange, it could be dally rash since you dog if half dalmatian. Dals have very sensitive skin. I have never seen it myself, but from what I've read it appears at first as some pimples on the skin, is greasy then looks pink and appears a bit moth-eaten where the hair falls out. Its more common in summer and in young dogs and is often seen on the head. It can quite easily get infected, so if its this or mange or anything else its probably best to get a vet to diagnose and treat correctly.

Also don't forget some mange is highly infectious to humans too, best get to vet ASAP to get diagnosis and best treatment
