Hello again :o I only seem to post when something skanky is going on with the dogs... which seems to be often!

A few days ago I noticed Tink had a wee bit of hair missing at the top of her front leg, near her "armpit" but thought nothing of it as it looked like she'd scraped it or something.

However I have noticed her chewing at it, and now a patch of an inch or so is hairless, and the skin is quite pink and raw looking. I have tried to take some photos, but they're v poor quality as she wasn't keen on being contorted into the neccessary positions.

So, any general ideas on what it could be? I was planning on giving her bath now the weather is nicer (with a medicated shampoo) should I still go ahead with this? Should I bandage/cover it to stop her worrying it and see if that helps? She doesn't appear to be scratching/any signs of fleas etc.

**Disclaimer** Will be booking vet appointment for Thursday hopefully and vets is now closed, hence all my questions!

The photos...

Looks like a wee irritation, could be sensitivity to a rich food, brackish water or a type of pollen or grass.

Under the arms/legs, the chest, the throat, the ears are where dogs get sweaty and where B gets his skin infections, when they get here!

I'd put aloe vera gel (pure as you can get it) to take the heat out of it and shampoo with Malaseb.

Also try and keep her as occupied as you can to keep her mind off it.

Thanks for the suggestions... my previous googling led me to pictures of dogs dissolving in sarcoptic mange...not helpful!

Food etc is still the same but the grass in the fields is getting longer and now theres sheep in them...maybe has something to do with it?

We have an aloe vera plant? Would that do? Haha... *goes to look up malaseb*

She has a nice meaty bone from the butchers now so that should keep her occupied for a bit!

If it is an aloe vera plant, break a leaf off and rub it on yourself, if it doesn't sting, it should be grand, rub away on her leg, best way possible.

If it was mange I would imagine it would be a bit more widespread than that but that might be an answer, vet can give you something. Could also be a sensitivity to fleas or mites, which she could indeed have caught off the sheep.

I know that sounds silly but I rubbed what I thought was an aloe vera leaf on my arm for a midgey bite in Spain and it was a lookey likey plant and it hurt like hell.

If you are going to the vet anyway you can get the Malaseb from them.
