I havent been to Manor Farm before so set off this morning with a few nerves. Ended up arriving far too early, so had time for tea...and more tea. Watched a few jump the classes before and felt even more nervous as alot of people were getting eliminated and having problems!!

Wester was up first in the BN, i have to say when i walked the course i thought it was pretty big! He warmed up really nicely and off we went. He was a little star, jumping double clear. We had a sticky moment here we put an extra stride in the double but apart from that i was rather pleased. Found out afterwards he would of been thrid...unfortunately, he isnt registered yet

Onto the 1m and again i thought it was up to height. Wester jumped well but ended on 12 faults, still not really sure what happened!! Rather pleased though as i was sooo deep to number five and he still picked up and tried to jump it.

Video:

Fee was next in the same class, with the aim of getting her going forward...lets just say, i didnt quite achieve my aim!!

She warmed up with her eyes on stalks and when she went in she was really backwards. She has struggled with the change to jumping indoors and our round this time really showed it. She almost stopped at the first but kept going (just) then stopped at the second. After that she jumped clear... but put extra strides in almost everywhere. I think im going to try and take her out somewhere to school round some fences indoors....anyway heres the video

Well done, sounds like your getting the hang of Weston pretty quick! Once you had the three down, you seemed to ride him more forward which he seems to prefer as he got up into the air a lot more, and went off a slightly longer stride.

Agree with Fee looking sticky, maybe a tap behind the saddle going into the first next time? I'm sure she'll soon adapt to being back indoors soon, and she isn't always the easiest of rides from your previous posts

. Looked better already as she went round though, the last couple of fences were super

Just an observation, feel free to ignore me

I don't know whether its just because I haven't been out competing for a while but that did look quite big! And the dogleg to the green fence looked tight. I think you did really well. I think when Fee jumped awkwardly over fence 1 it probably cocked up the distance into fence 2 and so I'm sure once you get her out and about a bit more and she stops goggling at things she'll be fine. Well Done.

Manor farm always looks big indoors because the poles are so skinny, it gives a more airy appearance!

The courses there are always twisty and cause faults so Wester did really well, he is a really sweet horse.

We were going yesterday but bailed out due to the weather, I live up a steep ungritted hill and the first 3 miles on ungritted roads

I'm sure fee will adjust to life indoors soon enough - my mare always takes a while to adjust then just as we get going - it all moves outside again!!!

What super vids, so clear, think that will really help being able to look back again and again to see where things can improve, would agree with elf emma if you are able to, without your horse taking offence, then a good whack to back up your leg may well work better for you, have had a similar problem and this resolved it well, first in the warm up just before going in then strategically in the ring at the right time, but you know your horse best so it may not be possible and it has to be done at the right time!!!

Well done on your '3rd' - that looks like a lovely round on the vid. Definitely get him registered I reckon

Fee does look a bit sticky on the vid but I thought you did use your stick at the right moment before no.2. She got better as the round went on though - a bit of practise and I bet she'll be fine.

I was there too, did the 90cm class before the BN (6th), then the BN. I thought it looked about normal for a BN tbh, with the jump-off fences up to height. Actually thought it was a nice course to ride, apart from the dogleg which was quite tight.

We went double clear too, and would have been 3rd as well (!) except that numpty here managed to jump the rustic again after fence 8. I thought 'that's a bit tight' but bless her she jumped it fine. Nobody realised I'd jumped an extra fence (including me!) and we finished and were given a double clear. It was only when I went to collect my winnings but wasn't in the line up that they told me what I'd done - I went over it in my mind and it all fell into place then

What a prize prat!!! I did try to tell them that I should get bonus points for jumping an extra fence and still going clear but it didn't wash

PS: was there a photographer there do you know? I don't think there was but I'd love to get a pic.

Dam. I was there yesterday without horse so spent most of the day playing with new camera. I remember your round well. The judges did not notice the wrong fence. Unfortunately for you there was a senior BSJA judge watching from the cafe and pointed out the error to the judges.

I did have some shots of you but deleted all the pics (over 400) from camera before I left

Oh, that's a pity - you could have sold me a couple!!
Were you the guy standing in the corner by the gates to the school from the yard side? If so then I remember seeing you when I was watching a few to try and learn the first class.

Could kick myself (and have) for putting in the extra fence - what a waste of the horse jumping so well for me
