Our mare had a sarcoid removed by laser two weeks ago it scabs then drops of leaving the wound raw again would manuka honey help and does it have to be covered.

Hi Cilla,

Manuka is indicated for the treatment of infected wounds - so in this case, if the wound is clean and uninfected, probably no better than whatever your vet has recommended. You're probably better off using a hydrogel or similar just to make sure it's protected.
 
Although Manuka honey is a great healer you do ned at least 30%+ and it is always messy!

Try Neem oil.

I am about to put some pictures up of a wound a yearling did to himself. I used Neem on it until recently when I changed to something someone sent me from the USA and that is working even better!

Neem oil works very well, is not messy and keeps flies away.
 
Since one of the main things you to do with the wound area is keep it covered to prevent flys getting at it and thus prevent the small but present risk of other horse being infected I would have thought honey would the last thing you would want to use.
I used a cream called filta bac on my horse I got the first tube from the vet but after that from an eshop much cheaper it did a super job and is an excellent barrier.
