A friend of mine has recently moved into a new house which has a very large garden (nearly an acre and a half).
Rather than using any of the land as a typical garden, the previous owners kept 2 full sized Shetlands and 2 miniature ponies on it and used the 2 garages as large stables.
Friend now has several months worth of horse manure (far too much to dish out as compost to neighbours and friends - itd take months to shift this amount!) and a decent amount of soiled bedding (shavings) in the garages (they were deep littering all winter).
Whilst friend does have a horse (kept at livery at a local yard), shes a very keen gardener and intends to use the whole space as a garden. So aside from a very small amount of the manure being retained as fertiliser, the rest has to go. . . though where exactly I havent a clue!
She has already contacted every skip company in the area to enquire about hiring a skip - but they wont deal with it as its animal waste. Theyve also been unable (or unwilling - not sure which it is) to advise her on alternative companies which might be able to help.
Both my and her yard owners just allow their muck heaps to rot down little by little - but this isnt an option for her as a) her new neighbours arent horsey (and never took well to the ponies being there) and b) she hasnt the space to have a muck heap sitting there for X amount of time.
She's also contacted some of the local farmers to ask for any assistance (which she would pay for of course), but none have been able to help so far.
Can anyone please suggest anything or any way of disposing of this lot (burning not an option due to dangers and neighbours!)?
