Hi,
We have a field which we’ve divided up into 4, to strip graze. One side of the field is a stream, the other surrounded by gardens / houses. Putting poo near the stream I believe is dangerous for the water....putting it near people’s gardens will attract flies.
What method do you think is best for getting rid of manure?
A built-in composting area is not a good idea I think. Too much work to turn it over, too much manure piling up!
-We were thinking of piling it into a trailer and seeing if we can dump it at a farmer’s place...If we do, do you know if they’d accept shavings, too?
-Alternatively we could spread it. We thought we could do this in the summer field, which has been cordoned off to grow again for next summer. However. If we spread, the ponies be more likely to get diseases as the poo carries paracites? Or would regular worming stop that? The field would benefit spreading, but I don’t want to put my horses’ health at risk.
Thank you!
