I've never been on that website before. Just spent ages looking on it blubbing my eyes out :( Why do people treat mans best friend in such terrible ways?? Litters of puppies at the pound to be destryed at 8wks old!!! And thoses ex breeding bitches - just why??? God, that's made me so sad :(
 
dip your fingers into staffie welfare and see just a bit of what goes on with this breed and how many young dogs are put down just because there are too many of them around. If we could get a handle on breeding in this country, then maybe, just maybe we could start to control this horrendous issue.
 
i got my lovely black labX from there. he was 8 weeks old when i got him. his mum was in a pound in ireland heavily pregnant, and she was fostered by some ladies in ireland til pups were born and kept til old enough to wean, then the pups came to MT, and put on website. My dog is fab, lovely temp and a really happy dog. Yes i paid £160 for him, was home visited and checked,,agreed to having him fully vacc .. he had had his first jab and was chipped, agreed to have him castrated and do a puppy school class with him. yes they did check that i had done puppy school and checked with vets that his bits had been removed. i think they do good work, its a nice place too.
 
if you are after a puppy then i would recommend them as you get a pup, that is a rescue, and support their work as well. they were easier to deal with than dogs trust, who are on my doorstep. My dog was well worth the 3 hour drive to wales to get him.

I am just about to get a dog from Dogs Trust this weekend. To be honest i think allthese rescues do a fab job when really they shouldn't have to be doing it all if, as said, something could be done to stop this excessive breeding of dogs. As the woman said to us at Dogs Trust last week - it doesn't get any easier when they have to go to the pound each week and pick the dogs they think they can rehome. I know I couldn't do it - i couldn't leave knowing that others were going to be PTS. All I tell myself is that by taking the dog I am, that frees up a space for another one.
 
Just been on the website after reading this post and have been looking for a cottage to rent for holiday that I can take the dogs to, they have one advertised up north where 10% of the booking goes to the charity, just need to figure out now if I can talk someone into coming with me (222miles from the house, but looks fantastic).

Couldnt agree more! Lots of people believe the ONLY way to get a pup is to buy, the reality is LOTS of pups end up in rescue. This year we have probably had 10 litters of pups in, not to mention the odd "single" people gave up within weeks of purchase.

Lots of our litters are born here to bitches that come in heavily pregnant and are rehomed after their first vaccination, exactly as you would get a "bought" puppy. We and most other rescues offer lifetime support and aftercare too. Heck we'll even pay for its neuter op when its older - can't get better service than that!

In the last couple of months we've even had a pedigree GSP pup (14 weeks). a ped chocolate lab (15 weeks) and a ped yorkie (14 weeks). The value of dogs being brought into rescue now is actually incredible, long gone are the days of rows full of old mongrels.
