Marble in the Uterus????

Someone told me I could have the vet put a marble in my mares uterus to stop her having such bad seasons. Is this true? Has anyone had this done to their mare?

My vet has suggested it as my mare is constantly on Regumate. The procedure is only about £70.00 and the amount I am spending on Regumate makes it very worthwhile. However, they can expel the marble.

Yep - OH's mare had it done a couple of years back and it worked (for the 4 weeks before she 'lost' it)

i saw that on horsetails i think or summit like that and they put a large marble in this mare who wouldnt race when she was in season?! i dunno the outcome tho!

I've heard good things about it but they do tend to lose them

Yes i have also had this seuggested to me as my mare has been on Regumate. A friend of mine had it done to her mare with great results, although she did eventually start seasoning again so she has had a bigger marble put in.
The reason i didn't go for it is because i want to breed from my mare and my vet suggested that it could reduce the likelihood of conception so i stuck to Regumate.
