I am exploring the option of having a marble fitted for my mare, after going through a year of far too many emotional seasons.
I am less inclined to go down the Regumate route...mainly for 2 reasons, 1 being how careful you have to be handling it and 2 sometimes she can be a fussy feeder and leave parts of her feed so i wouldnt really be sure of her eating it everyday for sure.

any 'marble' experiences to share please? the expert vet on the topic is on hol at the moment so i will discuss it at length before i do anything...and i'm hoping my insurance will cover the scan and proceedure, several people seem to think they will but i havent checked my policy yet and having never had to make a claim i have no clue.

My mare had one fitted, but it didn't work. The success rate isn't really high, but it's worth a go. Sadly she came into season with it and is now back on Regumate

OH's mare had one when they first came out - worked a treat until she 'spat' it out in the field 6 weeks later

she was permanently in season without.

However, since she has moved yard (to our back garden) and her routine has been established - no routine on old yard- she has been perfect (only a little tense but workable) when in season

oh dear not sounding as good as i had hoped so far then !!

My little mare has a very set routine, she is just a slapper and a lesbian !! Working her isn't impossible just very frustrating when in season and the mess she gets in is horrendous. Shes always been quite hormonal but this year had loads of seasons, mainly brought on by new mares coming to the yard who she promptly falls in love with and becomes very clingy with and comes into season every few weeks. Its just hard work !! Maybe I will look into Regumate a bit further then. I'm just a bit dubious about getting the regumate into her without fail everyday she seems to be leaving some of her feed at the mo and i suspect its the part with her cortaflex in.

TBH our mare is still a slapper and clingy since her routine sorted BUT she is rideable now when in season and wasn't before (hence the marble) - she was happily squirting and squealing at my gelding when I left for work this morning

Mine has worked amazingly as MQ said, honestly its like riding a different pony, we can hack on th buckle, canter in open spaces without whipping round & spooking, & best of all can compete sj safely with no shying & napping. PM me if you want any more help.

Another positive marble experience here - my mare had one fitted back in April and has been much better since. You mentioned scans and the 'procedure'. In my mare's case there was no scan, the vet and marble (very pretty thing) arrived at the yard and it was inserted manually by the vet. Took about 20 mins (if that). Cost was about £60 invluding the vet's visit.
