Police are warning horse owners in Lincolnshire to be vigilant after a heavily-pregnant mare was attacked in her field — resulting in her death and that of her foal.
The mare, a 19-year-old thoroughbred cross, was discovered by her owner, Graham Worrell at 6am last Friday morning (4 May).

Mr Worrell, 67, of Gate Burton, near Gainsborough, told H&H that at first he thought the mare, called Persian Dream, had started to foal.

“She was lying down, away from the other mares, with a lot of blood around her back end,” said Mr Worrell.

“But when the vet checked the mare, he said she had been attacked. She had been cut inside, mutilated.”

It is believed that the foal died during the attack. “Persian” was taken in to the vet’s but her foal was stillborn the following day and she died soon after.

“I can’t explain how I feel,” said Mr Worrell.

“I bred her myself. It was wicked. So sick and unnecessary. I cannot get over it,” he added.

Mr Worrell, along with his son Rupert, breeds show horses, showjumpers and hunters. They bred Purdy’s Dream, owned by Paralympic hopeful, Emma Sheardown.

Persian, who was in foal to an Irish draught, bred a striking coloured foal by John Whitaker’s coloured stallion, Zilando, last year.

Rupert Worrall told H&H that he is offering a reward of £1,000 to anyone with information.

“I am hoping that in the current financial climate, it will encourage someone to come forward,” he told H&H.

Lincolnshire Police said the attack was a “terrible crime” that had been “devastating” to the owners.

A spokesman said they would like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area.

sounds just like this post i made in another thread about a horse mutilation in sussex.... only one other person commented on it... what do you think?

WARNING! THIS LINK CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES OF A HORSE MUTILATION.

The above site has a one hour documentary about this case. Please watch the evidence presented in this film. its very compelling viewing! the post mortem has still not been given to the horse owners (18 months later) and all the police would say is that the horse had many different internal injuries which could not be seen from the outside of the body.

The terrible injuries this horse suffered are almost identical to thousands of sheep and cattle mutilations which happen all over the UK and the world. This is not a new phenomenon. If this interests you please google " animal mutilations"

No blood was found on the ground. No foot prints, tyre tracks or any other ground disturbance was noted in the place the horse was found. the cuts were clean, flesh on the jaw bone, neck and penis had been cleanly removed, The ears and chestuts had been removed. the anus was cored out and removed. yet not sign of blood or a struggle on the ground. (as seen in the documentary)

It would mean the horse would have had to be sedated in some way for the perpetrators to have committed this crime. but how does that explain no blood on the ground? and in total darkness. and for most of the injuries to be internal??????

If these questions intrigue you, please view the documentary in the above link and try and discuss how this can be possible.....

Terrible sick *****/ I know you linked to another thread, but I thought there was a 3rd story where a lady lost a gelding and it's ear was cut and people tried to say wild animals would have chewed it off, but there were other mutilations too to one eye and she was convinced that someone had killed the pony.

i know, its shocking, truly shocking! and so very perplexing.....

some of the injuries of animal mutilations like this beggars belief. internal organs removed cleanly through small incisions, the wounds are clean as if the knife used was red hot, no blood on the ground, many jaws have been skinned to the bone and neck skin and ears have been removed, yet in the imediate vicinity there are no foot prints or tyre tracks, no sign of struggle, many have their genitals removed or part removed (cleanly) many also have their anus cored out...

why is this not spoken about more freely! why is the main stream news not covering these despicable crimes to our life stock? what is going on?

I wish i could see a copy of the autopsy of the mare and foal...

Yes there is definately a cover up. That was inferred with the 3rd story I spoke of - locals tried to pah pah it, but the local newspaper backed up the owners claims I recall, so why kept so hush hush?

There were a spate of attacks in Hants and Sussex some years ago with mutilations(of a sexual mature) of mosly mares but also some geldings.
When I was chatting to a police friend about lack of publicity he said that there was a view that the attacker 'got off' on the publicity and notoriety so there was a view that publicity should be kept down and the local horse watch warned people of areas being targeted
These poor trusting animals R.I.P. Mare and foal.

exactly! there is a cover up. there are far more cattle and sheep mutilations than horse.... but why not let the owners view the autopsy?(i speaking of the sussex mutilation there)

at least with horse they are PETS so the owners are more likely to push for answers as opposed to farmers who view their animals as stock, and dont want to/or cant afford to have autopsy's.... why do DEFRA rush in take the body away all hush hush like....

there is something very strange going on to our animals at night in the british isles. and we are not being told the whole story.

is the sussex case the one mentioned in this article here http://www.richplanet.net/detail.php?dbindex=254 if so, the police told you a load of old codswallop im afraid :(

No not that attack these were attacks back in the 1980's

here is a report from the time
Hampshire's first serious attack was in December 1983. A three-year-old animal from Bishop's Waltham had to be put down as a result of her injuries.

Between 1988 and 1993 more than 40 animals, many of them young fillies, were attacked in Hampshire - some in stables, others in fields. Sexual attacks on two cows were studied by a police team because of similarities with the horse assaults.

oh dear me. sexual attacks! how sick. there is an article in this weeks H&H magazine about an ex policeman and director of the great yorkshire show that has been jailed for two years for offences including filming a man having sex with a pony...:mad: words fail me!
