I know TB mares can grade with a number of books, but can warmblood mares swap between books and enter other gradings?

Also I have an ISH mare (ID/TB dam but irish supplementary listed holstein sire (not holstein approved)), would I have to stick with general books with her eg SHB and BWBS possibly ZFDP? What are my options with grading her? Thanks!

Good question! I've been wondering how that is done myself as we have and ISH mare and an AES mare, at least one of whom we would like to grade and I was wondering if, for example, I would be able to get her graded say Oldenburg (G.sire is Oldenburg) or Hanoverian (other g.sire is Hanoverian) or would I have to go down the AES/BWPS route?

Yes, the mare can be graded at ZfdP as ZfdP never devided the German Riding Horse into special regions and counties of Germany.
There are several German Breeding Associations that previously worked regionally only. These Breeding Associations insisted to breed within their own population and, therefore, did not accept "other" Warmbloods generally.
Nevertheless, many of these Breeding Associations work in the whole of Germany now. Their way of working has not changed totally yet.

Warmblood mares can grade through several UK Studbooks - AES, SHBGB, AES, BWBS etc. Mares can also be graded through the KWPN in the UK, however dependent on the pedigree and society they are registered with would depend on what section of the Studbook they enter.

For the German Studbooks a lot is dependent on the mares ACTUAL registered Studbook. For instance I have just had several KWPN & Oldenburg mares graded with the Hanoverians. However the papers had to be sent to Germany for Approval (and that is that a minimum of 4 generations must be approved). Also several Studbooks only have a small list of "recognised societies", so the Hanoverians would not accept any horses that have been registered at birth with certain British Studbooks - i.e. AES, ISH, SHBGB, SSH or BWBS.

I think that most Studbooks would accept and grade pure TB's, and there certainly seems to be scope for Arabs and AA's with Warmblood Studbooks also.

You would really need to contact the Studbook you are thinking of grading her with to find out what their rules are, because some will be different to others.
