mare has pink discharge?

I friend has called me to say her mare who is believed to be due in may has had some pink discharge coming from her backend for 24 hours. The vet has just said keep an eye on her. Any ideas what this Is? Should she be worried and should she call Another vet?

It could be a bladder infection,the cervical plug coming away or it could be something else.
Either way I would have the vet out to have a scan.Also advise taking mares temperature to see if it is an infection.
There could be the possibility of Placentitis but a scan will soon be able to detect this.

Second that. If it is just blood then it may be varicose veins in the vagina, but temperature and combined uterine and placental thickness measurement to determine if it could be placentitis would be my main concern now. Any udder development?

No not that I know of. The owner has contacted the vet and has booked a scan, I will let you know what happens. Thank you
