My mare went to stud exactly 2 weeks ago; she had come into season the evening before.
The stallion covered her naturally several times over a 4 day period. I collected her on Tuesday but when I brought her in tonight she was winking. Can anyone help put my mind at rest???

i would think shes poss back in season has she been near any gelding?? this can bring some mares back into season and embryo poss be absorbed. hope that your mare is fine. did the stud not scan her to see if she was at optimum time to concive?

Thanks for replying! She wasn't scanned at the stud - small family farm which does natural covering only, so no scanning equipment. They are happy to have her back if she does't take this month.
I was planning to keep a close eye on her until she's due back in season at the end of next week as per her cycle. She is in isolation on the yard and hasn't batted an eye at the geldings or our stallion, so hopefully she is just trying to wind me up! Don't know how I'm going to keep calm over the next 11 months is she is in foal!!

.....went to visit her and she didnt want to know me! usually as soon as i shout her she runs over i had to walk to the far end of the field to get near her just to take her rug off even then she didnt want to know!!!....my mare was covered naturally and was as good as gold for the stallion! she is a tart!!!

I would have her scanned asap, although my mare winked all the way through her pregnancy until she was 10 months

Apparently, some very tarty mares can act in season throughout their pregnancy.

Thanks Becki, am going to keep a close eye on her and get her scanned on her 16th day, so fingers crossed! She is indeed a tart - the stallion was devastated to see her go!

mare is 15.2 bay tbx..........put her to county top dollar......16.2 bay tobiano 3/4 TB x CB. the website is countryfarm stud.....have a look!!!.....his temprement is so nice and hes better looking in the flesh. his dad is at the stud as well and hes a lovely boy to.........what about your mare and stallion????

She's a retired grade A jumper by Cavalier Royale and he is a 3yo by Calvaro Z. He isn't being graded till next spring, so hopefully I will have a desirable little foalie next year!

top dollar is graded, his half brother is on the spanish young riders team!!....he jumps however is concentrating on his dressage career at the mo though does jump when he gets chance so hopefully will have nice allrounder!......mum was cart raced and can jump but shes retired as well. she throws lovely foals as when bought her got a BOGOFF on her!!!.....her last foal was gonna be huge!! vet reakoned she would have made 16.2-17hh's!!....not bad when mum is 15.2 and dad is only 15hh's!!!.....the stallion did throw big though!!!............cant wait for foalie time!!.....just got to think of some names!!!!....................gonna log off soon as got to go to work in the mornin so if i dont reply i aint bein rude!!!!!
