Hi guys
My mare has come into season, and it's like she's had a personality transplant.
She has been squirting (I know, gross, sorry!) For 3 days.
She seems fine in the field but in the stable she's like a different horse.
As soon as you go near her she wees/squirts, constantly.
She is being very pushy, she won't move out the way when I'm trying to get in the door, she is constantly turning her head to nip when I'm grooming/rugging up. She is almost challenging me and moving me round the stable and pushing me into corners and pressing her head onto me.
I assume its season related as this started happening 3 days ago and then the constant weeing/squirt/winking combo 2 days ago.
Is there anything I can give her to make her less... mareish?
She's been a dream until now but these last few days have been challenging!
Thanks! X

Agnus castus from March-September is my first port of call with mine. Mine doesn’t push me around, whether that’s because she isn’t that marish or because she knows I’m very strict on invading my space so she doesn’t even try I’m not sure.

If your mare is really really uncomfortable then I’d be tempted to give her a few days off whenever she’s at her worst, it’s not worth the fight. Mine is a bit sassier to ride when in season so I tend to hack instead or very lightly school.
