Mare in season in January

I bought my mare in June last year and I only had her a week and she came into season and the misbehaviour started. I put my mare on Oestress and this helped her behaviour and moodiness. I stopped giving her it Sept/Oct and she has been fine. However, I noticed yesterday that she is in season again! In January?! Is this normal? She has been more challenging to work with over the last few weeks. Do you think she needs to be on Oestress all year round? Any advice would be helpful.

Mine is in season too. I took her off Oestress for winter but now I've put her back on it and am going to now give her it all year round as it does seem to tone her down a bit.

Sorry, nothing helpful to add, but mine is in season too! And I've discovered that the gelding who joined our small herd a few months back likes to get 'up close and personal', biting her rugs in the process. Aaaarrrggghh! As if it wasn't hard enough coping with the mud, now we've got this to contend with too?!
 
Maybe you should do more investigations.

A scan and blood tests?

If something is abnormal you may find a more permenant solution.

The winter dispite being wet has been mild so far so the season weather change may not have affected your mare so much!

Or is could be she fancies someone!
 
I bought Nadia in last night and she was squeeling like a pig as she does when she is in season but she wasn't so badly behaved as she normally is.
I've tried most supps and the only one that really worked was Global herbs Frisky mare but decided not to bother in the end as it didn't make a massive enough difference.
 
Mine is in season too, as are others on the yard. All sorts of shameful behaviour going on! No, it's not normal for January, but the weather recently hasn't been normal for winter, no wonder they're confused!
