Rode my mare 11ish this morning. She made a dropping while we were out. Nothing since. Not distressed, no pawing. Popped her in sand arena. Two geldings beside her. She is heavily in season. Squealing and showing. But am concerned with lack of droppings. Vet on the way. Just wondering in the meantime if anyone has any comment please.

Hope she’s ok now.

Thank you Dustygirl. She is 100% better. It was an impaction colic, too much hay. Vet removed droppings from back end and administered water, paraffin and salt via tube in front end. Took the best part of 12 hours for next dropping to appear. She is belting down the door as I type, so suspect we are back in top form.

Sometimes us ladies have different body reactions to our own cycle. I foolishly pondered if that might be same for equines. Great imagination here.???

Hope the vet was able to help.
Thanks Red-1 the vet was 100% in sorting this out promptly. It was an impaction colic from gorging on hay. Last year in June she had a colic, followed with surgery. I was very anxious about being on the same trajectory. The last time it was a infection that constricted/tightened the colon. Nothing to do with eating. The infection is located in the UK and IRE geographic area mostly. Can be picked up from water. Very unusual and as with surgery lots of €€€.
But we are out of the woods now and all is good, thank you.
