After having a few issues and me finally falling off in style yesterday the vet wants to scan Mightys ovaries and is coming next week. So does anyone have any experience with mares that have/had ovarian pain/issues. Also any spare positive vibes going spare?

My mare's marble is marvellous (what a tongue twister...) So much better - less rolling/calling etc when in season. Seriously, she has had the marble in her uterus since summer (after being scanned and the vet suggesting they may help her.) She seemed to be in pain and the scan showed she had large follicles which could cause pain (Know nothing of physiology of all this but do trust my vet.) Could be worth asking yr vet?

i think i am the queen of mare issues!!
I went through the same last year after about 6 years of very difficult behaviour. My girl had ovary scans done and had a hormone implant in the neck followed by a long course of Regumate. Sadly longer than a year on nothing much has changed and now we have moved on to other options.
If you have any more questions please ask.

I used to know a mare with small fibroids on her ovaries which when she came in season would grow and cause her a lot of pain. She would buck for England when she was in season, and for a long time the owner did not know why.

Marble certainly worked on our mare until she 'spat it out' 6 weeks later in the field! Regumate worked but very expensive.

Fort he last year we've had her on Coligone and her symptoms have all but disappeared, still in season alot and very 'squirty' but no issues ridden at all and she wasn't rideable in season previously - would buck and spook and rear if you asked her to do anything and was very girthy

my mare had her ovaries out otherwise i would have put her down. wouldnt respond to regumate. full work up at rvc. said one ovary was bigger but not significant. told me it was all behavioural. i decided to take her ovaries out and now she is brilliant.

oh we have a mare at the moment who has been for scans - was told she wouldnt come back into season anymore this year !!1 ha ha they got that wrong she is in season now at the end of October !!!

she is a gem untill she has a season then she just has really bad pmt !! they have suggested the marble for her to !!

My mare has just had what hopefully is her last season of this calendar year - is it true the last one and first one of the year are always pronounced? Are seasons driven by something to do with the daylight? (Soooo thick!)
