Hi. I was wondering if anyone shed some light on my mares odd behaviour today please !
This morning my 21 year old mare went completely nuts in her stable. Kicking out, squealing and bucking. However once we got her attention she snapped out of it straight a way, almost like she was in a trance. We finished getting her ready to turn out and she was fine going out to the field. Once she was out the weird behaviour started again, this time it seemed to be more directed at her field companion. Which is strange as her and the other mare have been turned out together for years and normally love each others company. Again once we got her attention her behaviour completely changed back to normal and they both wondered away like nothing had happened. This evening she was fine coming back in from the field too.
This isn't normal behaviour for her, ok she can be a little grumpy sometimes but nothing like this. For the past 3 months she has been on half a tablet a day for cushings disease, she's also been blind in one eye for the past few years as well. Not sure if this would have anything to do with it or not.
Thanks in advance !!
I know mares can be a little temperamental at times but this is very very out of character for her.
