Ellie is being a bit odd at the moment and she is off her hard feed. I dont feel its a case for the vet as she is happily eating hay & grass but when i give her breakfast or dinner she eats about 1/3 of it and then leaves the rest
There are a few factors i could put it down to but what do you guys think?
1) I have recently put her on TopSpec Calmer, however she has been on this a 10days and she's only been like this for 48hrs. Usually if she doesnt like something new in her feed she'll let me know straight away and this is very rare.
2) Since she has started doing this she has been turned out on the lovely lush grass.
3) Have started a new bag of Alfa Alfa pellets, wonder if they are off or something but then i have changed her onto sugar beet to see if would make a difference and it hasnt
4) She is HEAVILY in season, squirting everywhere and has been for about 10days now.
*** UPDATE ***
She still hasnt touched it so this morning i thought i'd give her just a handful of alfa oil and a bit of sugar beet (she loves sugarbeet) but she didnt want it at all so out came the thermometer. at 6.45am the reading was 38.56 which is about a degree up on her normal but she felt quiet warm under her rug so took it off and thought i'll do it just before i leave for work.
In the mean time was chatting with YO and he agreed with me that she asnt quite right and that if temp was same or higher next time then get vet today if dropped then wait until tonight and see what was then and get vet if nessacrey tomorrow when i'm off work.
7.25am took temp again, 39.08 so rang vet and i'm at work now waiting for them to call (have asked for a later in day visit as had quite a bit of time off this week and what with tomorrow off to, mother is )
She is such a funny mare, just dreading if they want to take blood as i'm not really in the mood for being thrown round the stable
