Hi guys my Haffie mare is having a difficult time of the month this month and has been a wee bit grumpy (she is so very sweet normally) spooky out and tried to bite my instructor as she tightened the girth. She is not a problem otherwise or in the field and this is the first time in the three months she has been with me that I've noticed her season.

I've checked girth wasn't pinching and I always do it up in stages so she must be tender, also the spooking is thinking more about napping if I don't anticipate and ride forwards.

Obviously I don't want to supplement where it's not necessary but if I see this sort of thing continue and form a pattern can anyone suggest a good supplement and advise how and when to feed it:) Thanks.

I'm not sure how much it does, but my girl is using Hilton herbs mare supplement. smells nice and she will eat anything anyway! she is 10 and never been on a supplement before, but when she first came into season this year she was especially on edge and was noticeable tender over her back so thought it was worth a try (friend recommended) touch wood, since then she must have come into season a few time (started it by end of April) and I haven't noticed any tenderness, just normal mare stubbornness that she has all year round!
however, I think with the late spring she had a while without proper seasons over the winter so may have just been a shock to the system, making her worse than usual. but I do think it's working
