Sorry folks, it's a bit of a vent. :(

I've had her for years and she's always been sound... OK she's gashed herself up pretty badly and skinned her legs on several occasions... but she's always stayed sound through it all. Then this summer she had a really nasty stab wound to the bulb of her off fore heel. It was deep (over an inch) and narrow (a couple of mm) and she was hopping lame. Cue box rest, field rest, anti-biotics and two vets to sort it.

Mare is sound, I manage to take her for two hacks before the snow and ice.

Snow goes and I take her for a hack but she doesn't feel 'right' when trotting on a particular diagonal on a tight bend. Turns out she has a bruise... phew!

More snow but mare is sound.

Still snowy, mare lame, lame, lame on hind leg. Farrier coming that day anyway, she has an abcess. Quickly recovers.

Snow goes we manage a couple of hacks and a schooling session but then I'm taken ill with flu.

I was feeling much better and manage a couple of rides but now she looks slightly 'off' on a different leg!

I want to scream!

i feel your pain :(

Im sure shell come right though in the end...and whatever a situation is always be greatful that its not any worse!!!

it does make me wonder why we bother sometimes lol!! so much money and heartache to shovel poo and get ill!!

Love them to bits though!!!

:) xxx

I just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My other mare has done her tendon but she is coming on brilliantly.

I'll have a talk with them later and explain that they are to look after themselves and that they are not allowed to have any more injuries!

Ah. Frustrating... Know how you feel. Went through a year where the Dizz and I alternated between being broken - we just could not get it synchronized at all :(.

Hope she comes sound and the weather stays good and that you are okay.

Good luck hun!
