Eating, drinking , pooing etc all fine. Is it itchy bits? Too warm? Anyone else got this?

Going to clean her teats this afternoon and her dock etc to see if it helps, just wondered if anyone had any experience of this?

Yep, a mare on the yard is a stampy madam at the moment too. I pointed it out to YO and owner (same person) and she said it's because of a late resurgence of flies, and since she mentioned it I am seeing them everywhere. Too mild to kill them off. The mare is easily irritated which doesn't help, it doesn't bother the others.

Ah thank you, glad its not just mine. Yeah this weather is getting rather annoying, ive had to buy another rain sheet as planned to be onto a lightweight by now. Existing rain sheet is getting so manky inside and was desperate to clean it so have caved in and bought her a second one.

My mare does this and it makes the ground shake haha she is a Cob built like a tank and has always done it since I've had her it is down to sores on her legs I have just reclipped her from the knees down and a few scabs have popped back up due to mites I think but because she is a pie bald mainly white and being pink skinned I have found she has sensitive skin.

my mare double barrelled me last week, if that counts! she's always a bit grumpy/stampy with her back legs and has only ever kicked me once, last year! I've had her 14 yrs and she is 30 now, but it was when I was rugging her!!

probably didn't help that I was chasing her around a dark field, with my head torch on, trying to get her rug on, which she hates anyway!

So would there be any other signs of mites? Are we thinking its on her legs or more on her teats? Ie can i put pig oil and sulpher on both?

Gave her teats and bum etc a clean this evening, bum was fairly easy but the teats caused her to kick out. Usually i can touch them as in the summer she lets me put fly cream on them.

Typical sign of mites! A dectomax injection ten days apart (and then repeat as necessary - some get it every 2-3 months, some get it once a year!) should sort her out. As an added bonus it's also acts as a wormer :)
