Mare waxed up early!!!!

Please help.My mare has waxed up at only 300 days.My vet is at loss as to why.Is waxing up always an imminent sign that she's going to foal? Also if the foal was to come early what are the chances of survival?(my vet scanned my mare and the foal is alive) I am very worried..........
