Hi,
I have recently bought a 7yr old ISH mare. She was in quite poor condition on arrival, so has been out on 24/7 grazing for the past 6 weeks to allow natural weight gain. It has worked very well - she is now a much better shape - possibly too good even!
Over the past few weeks however, she has become very sensitive to touch over her abdomen and pectoral area, and her teats have become very full (she is still having regular seasons so I'm assuming she's not in foal!). The grazing she is on is very rich in natural herbs and forage, and I'm guessing that the possible phytoestrogens from clover has affected her hormones. Could this be the reason she is sensitive on her forward belly too? Anything I should do, other than limit her grazing on the clover-rich grass?
Just after some reassurance really!
Thanks
